Lovely image - I especially like the details and colors, they bring a very calming feeling to the photo. Hope you're doing well, Keith!

Thanks Peggi, I'm doing well, just busy, busy, busy! Hence not so many posts. The photograph was taken on a recent visit to Whitby to attend the sevice for the Blessing of the Boats. This service was created to bless the herring fleet from Scotland and was held in September when the fleet was in port. When the fleet ceased to come the service was moved to August which was a holiday time for the town. The Mission to Seafarers' created Sea Sunday and so the service was moved to that day, usually the second Sunday in July, this was about 25 years ago. In the early days of the service it was organised by the Parish of Whitby, but after the creation of Sea Sunday it was thought more appropriate for the Seafarers' Mission to take over the organisation with the involvement of the Parish.
